All you need to know to visit Pokhari lake near Jayanti in Buxa – Dooars

The Pokhari Lake located at a 5-6 kilometers distance from Jayanti is great piece of interest to the tourists traveling to Buxa Tiger Reserve in Dooars. Pokhari lake, more of a pond is a sacred pond to local people. They perform rituals and even they remain away from putting their feet in the water of the pond. Pokhari lake is popular to Dooars tourists because of its huge population of cat fishes (Magur) and turtles. The lake is surrounded with greenery all around and there is complete peace one can enjoy. Travelers love feeding the fishes in the lake with puffed rice.

If you are visiting Buxa-Jayanti range in Dooars, make sure you visit Pokhari Lake on a day trip. You can cover and visit the lake on a day sightseeing. The beauty of the surroundings is certainly something which has a refreshing effect. You can reserve a car and go around all places of interest. Other nearby places of interests are Buxa Fort, Mahakal Temple and cave.

Pokhari Lake in Buxa Tiger reserve falls in the 3rd tourist circuit in Dooars. It takes around 2 hours from Tilabari, Lataguri or Gorumara Natioanl park to Pokhari Lake in Jayanti. From Jaldapara it is around 1 to 1.5 hours’ drive.
