Easy Trip Plan – Tailor Made Holidays – Plan Your Trip

We all love to travel but the first thing we are concerned with is planning the trip. A vacation is never going to enjoyable unless one has a proper easy trip plan for it. When it comes to planning, it is not that much tough when you plan to travel a place you have already visited but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to research. Planning a trip to already visited place is easier than planning a trip to a new destination of interest.

Frame Your Own Easy Trip Plan – Follow The Steps

Steps that I consider while planning an easy trip can be laid down as follows:

Choose the right partner or team:

The most important thing to sort out while planning to go for a vacation is to select and mange the person or people who can give you the best company. I personally do not like to travel with anyone but with some selected friends. I believe the company you are in plays the most vital factor in making your trip a memorable one. We should be with them who understand our need and make us happy. A person who doesn’t fall into your category must be diplomatically avoided. Yes, you have to be very selective and this would make your tour enjoyable.

Choose the places of interests:

When you are planning for a vacation and holidays, you can select 2 to 3 places of interest at a time, research on them and finally decide the place you would like to visit. Suppose if you would like to visit a beach you can select a number of beach destination like Goa, Puduchery, Andaman, Daman & Diu etc., research on them and then finally select the only place you are interested to travel to.

Detail Research on the selected place:

When you are done with researching on certain number of destinations and selecting the place of interest, you can start researching in detail about the place you have selected. Just Google the place, search for attractions and spots of interest in that particular place you have selected. You can ask questions to experts on different travel forums and get in touch with travel bloggers and clarify your doubts and queries. This will help you to frame an easy trip plan.

Be clear on your budget:

When you are done with selecting the place of interest, confirm your budget first. Figuring out the budget is very important to make an easy trip plan. We all are financially limited and have a budget for our vacations and travel. If the budget is clear then you can make itineraries accordingly. For example, you can’t decide how many days you would stay at Goa, what are the places you would visit there, what kind of accommodation you would go for etc. Once your budget is clear, you can plan easily and accordingly. Suppose you can spend up to Rs 20,000 per head, it may go up or down but the range is Rs 20,000, then you have to plan in such a way that it doesn’t exceed the budget. I would suggest you to make your budget slightly higher than the actual expenses you have got an idea for.

Itinerary Planning:

Here comes the toughest job in related to tour planning. Making an itinerary is the hardest job and it really needs detail and thorough research for a proper itinerary. Ask travel experts, travel bloggers, people around you who have already visited your selected place etc. They can give you the best answers to your queries and can suggest you the best itinerary for your trip.

Expense calculation:

When it comes to calculation of probable expenses and making estimation, you have to consider three things, i.e. 1) Accommodation, 2) Transportation and 3) Food

Once you get a clear picture of expenses in regard to the selected itinerary, you can decide what to leave out and what to take in. If your expenses do not match your itinerary, you can make changes in the itinerary to fit your budget or make your budget flexible to fit your selected itinerary.

Research on expenses:

Now it is time to research on the expenses to be incurred in your trip. Search for agencies and ask for prices of accommodations, transportations. Ask experts on forums and travelers about information related to transportation, lodging and food. The more you study, better knowledge you would get. It is very true that when we search for information related to our selected place of interest, most of the websites that come as result on search engines like Google, Yahoo etc. belong to travel agencies and they never provide you exact details you need. Everyone there has got their marketing strategies for prospect customers. So it is better to search for travel bloggers who can help you out. Travel experts in forums can help you to a great extent. People who have already visited your selected place of interest can help you a lot with detail information.

Execute Your Easy Trip Plan

Now when everything is ready, like you have come to know the expenses of transportation, accommodation and food and all these expenses meets your budget, you are done with the planning. Once you are done with planning, the next step comes in to picture is execution of your plans. The execution can be stated in categories as follows:

Ticket booking for your journey (to and from):

The most painful and important part of execution is booking train/flight/ship tickets. One must book and confirm journey tickets to and from your destination. Once the tickets are confirmed, your trip is confirmed indeed.

Booking Accommodation (if required):

If you are with family or ladies and if you are traveling in peak season it is better to book your accommodation well in advance to avoid any mishaps but I believe there is no popular destination in India where you don’t get a hotel to stay in and you don’t get availability on reaching there. You would always get hotel availability and if you are with friends and a group it won’t be a problem but in peak season it is better to book in advance. Offbeat destinations are exceptions, you must book your stay when you are traveling to an offbeat destination and lodging is limited.

I would suggest you to go through the reviews of the property or hotel/resort you are looking for. Tripadvisor is the best platform where you can get experts and travelers reviews and suggestions and this would help you in easy trip plans. Reviews always help to decide which hotel to stay in and which one to avoid. Do not forget to post a review on the property you have stayed in, it would help other visitors in decision making. You can also go through the reviews posted on the property’s personal Google Plus (G+) page. Just go through the reviews, judge yourself and decide if you can book this property for your stay and then you can make advance payment.

Once you are done with primary parts of execution, you are ready with your easy trip plan and to set off. Take a copy of the planning with you while traveling, it would help you to decide and execute later on.

Keep traveling and enjoy…! 🙂 Stay tuned to the travel Updates section of TravelDias for travel news and information.

      1. Hi Abhijit,
We have a plan to visit Kashmir in the month of October. We’re maintaining the following itinerary

06/10/2014 Patnitop via Jammu (we’re hiring a car from Jammu to Jammu)
        07/10/2014 Night stay at Pahelgam
08/10/2014 Night stay at Aru valley
09/10/2014 Night stay at Aru valley
        10/10/2014 Night stay at Shrinagar
        11/10/2014 Night stay at Shrinagar
        12/10/2014 Night stay at Shrinagar

We’ve booked the flight and train tickets only. Now my question is can you tell me whether it is a good plan for seeing the beauty of nature and suggest the best sight seeing for that season? It would be really helpful if you can tell me about the hotel rates and expenditure for food and some Kashmir special dishes and souvenir items. I also eager to know about essential things to carry other than the general things.

  5. Hi Abhijit,
    Plese suggest the following –

    1. When will be the best timing for Sikkim/Gangtok visit? Can we choose mid of March for the same?

    2. Also share the Sikkim/Gangtok plan for 6 days.

    Thanks,
    Sanjib

    1. Hi Sanjib,

Best time to visit Sikkim is October to Jan if you love chilling weather. You would get snow December. May is the time when you can see the Rhododendrons making the hills so colorful.
March generally has very cold weather. Chances are there that you would get snow left. Snow starts melting from March.

If you have 6 days in hand, I would suggest he following itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to Gangtok, stroll in MG Marg in evening, O/N stay at Gangtok
Day 2: Full day sightseeing in Gnagtok, enjoy Rope-way, O/N stay at Gangtok
Day 3: Day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (Changu), Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass, O/N stay at Gangtok
Day 4: Transfer to Lachen, O/N stay at Lachen
Day 5: Day excursion to Thangu, Chopta Valley, Gurudongmar Lake and transfer to Lachung, O/N stay at Lachung
Day 6: Day excursion to Yumthang Valley, Hot Spring, Zero Point and transfer to Gangtok by evening, O/N stay at Gangtok
      Day 7: Check-out and transfer to NJP/Bagdogra/Siliguri

If you need more details or want to discuss anything in particular, do mail me at “uvreachedavi@gmail.com”. I will surely revert back.

  7. We are reaching NJP Railway station from Guwahati on 13th June 2015 at 1 pm. We wish to see Gangtok and Pelling. We are not a luxurious budget but economical to standard. We are a couple. And since we are short on time, early response will be really appreciated

  9. Sir,
Abhijit Gupta, thnx for helping us to make our Sikkim tour itinerary. On 29-05-2015 my wife and me were visit to Sikkim with your recommended travel agent supervision Mr. Sudipto (Deshdunya.com), his service was not as good as expected actually very poor.  Hotel room, fooding was not good as we paid. However our plan were to visit Changu Lake, Baba Mandir and Lachen, Lachung, Yamthung. On 30-05-15 we reached NJP to Gangtok O/N stay at Gangtok.

on 31-5-15 we start our journey to visit Yamthung but unfortunately we could’t visit Lachen atleast because of heavy rain and landslides, we returned back from middle of Lachen to Gangtok.
On 01-6-15 we visit Baba mandir, changu Lake not Nathula pass because that day was Monday and Monday, Tuesday Nathulapass remain closed back to Gangtok on the sameday O/N stay.
On 02-06-15 local sightseeing of Gangtok city then we did a plan to visit Pelling in place of Yamthung.
On 03-06-15 with a family we togetherly hired a Xylo car from near Taxi stand of Gangtok at early morning, the driver was very good and he was our guide also. We visit to ancient Raptaenchi, ex capital of Sikkim on the sameday on the way of Pelling after enjoyed there we visit to Ravangla, It’s a very  nice very peaceful and near at nature place. Over night stay in a hotel, the hotel was very clean, good accomodation (Rs.800/- P.day) and delicious  fooding. On 04–06-15 we  visit Namchi (Char dham), Khechiperi Lake and O/N stay at Pelling another hotel.

On 05-06-15 we proceed to NJP for catch Paharia express for back to home, on the way of NJP we visit some falls also, one of those Kanchanjangha falls was great, we spend about 02 hrs there.
Thnx again to Mr. Abhijit bacause it was my first time Sikkim visit before visit  I called him several times but everytime he loved to answer my all quaries.

Next we are planning to visit Himachal. Our train timing on 18-10-15 from Hwh and 25-10-15 from Ndls. Can you help us to arrange our itinerary.

  10. Want to plan a one-week-tour from 25-Dec-2015 to 30-Dec-2015.
Number heads: 8 persons (including 4 Sr. Citizens).

Need some ideas on the following tour options.

Option 1: Kalimpong, Lava, Loleygaon, Rishap
    Option 2: Jungles of Dooars
Option 3: Daringbadi, Puri and some other beach in Odisha

    Thanks in advance!!

    1. It is very hard to choose an option from the given ones. Each option has its own charm. The jungle of Dooars is so much different from the hills of Lala, Rishyap and beaches of Orissa. Daringbadi is a good option but Dooars or Lava,Lolegaon and Rishyap is much better options. That is what I personally feel.

I feel you should club 2 options together and make the trip. You can cover a part of Dooars along with Lava, Lolegaon and Rishyap. The itinerary can be:
Day 1: Reach Hasimara station, transfer to Jaldapara, enjoy jeep safari, O/N stay
Day 2: Enjoy Jeep safari, visit Phuntsholing, O/N stay
Day 3: Transfer to Jhalong OR Murti via Khoyerbari range, visit Bindu via Chapramari after lunch, O/N stay
Day 4: Visit Samsing, Suntalekhola, Paren, Rocky Island early in the morning, check-out after lunch and transfer to Lava, O/N stay
Day 5: Transfer to Rishyap, sightseeing to Lolegaon or Sillery Gaon, O/N stay
      Day 6: Check-out and transfer to Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra

If you need more details, you can mail me at “uvreachedavi@gmail.com”. I would surely revert back. If you mail me, send me the mail with reference to this communication so that I remember the discussion. Very hard to remember all because I get hundreds of mails each week. Have a nice day.

    1. North Sikkim needs 2 nights – 3 days and with the days you can cover Thangu, Chopta Valley, Gurudongmar lake from Lachen and Yumthang Valley, Zero Point, Ho Spring from Lachung. 1 night stay at Lachen and the other night stay at Lachung and then return to Gangtok. You should also cover Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass on a day excursion from Gangtok. It needs a full day. Please do mail me at “uvreachedavi@gmail.com” for further details. I will surely revert back.

  21. Hi Abhijit,
At first i would like to thank you for maintaining such wonderful travelogues for those who love to travel. I do need a piece of advice from you. I with my family are planning a trip to Dooars. our journey date is 29th september, 2017. We would like to cover Lataguri, Jaldapara, Jayanti. Now my uncle has a special request that he wants to stay for 1 night at Rishap and then travel back to NJP. It will be a 6 nights 7 days trip(excluding train journey). Now can you please provide me an itinerary mentioning the notable places we could cover ? and please advice me on how to add Rishap to our tour plan without staying in Lava.

    Cheers !!

  23. hey abhijit,
Me along with my girlfriend are planning to visit gangtok , tsomgo lake, baba mandir and north sikkim etc. in october. we will be landing on bagdogra airport on 23rd October. We are planning to stay in sikkim for 5 days and after that take a flight from kolkata. We want to enjoy our sikkim trip but do have budget constraints , can you please advice us the best and affordable way to explore the sikkim. We dont have any problem in shared taxi or anything ..just want the cheapest possible way for our trip. It would be of great help.

    1. From Bagdogra it is quite hard to get a shared car to Gangtok. If you get one, that would be the cheapest mode of transport. In case, you don’t get. You can take an auto rickshaw (reserved) to reach Siliguri taxi stand. From Siliguri, you can take shared cars to Gangtok.

23rd Oct: Bagdogra/Siliguri to Gangtok, stroll around, O/N stay at Gangtok
24th Oct: Full day sightseeing, stroll along MG Marg in evening, O/N stay at Gangtok (you would hardly get shared car for local sightseeing. So, you can reserve a small car). I have mailed you all details.
25th Oct: Day trip to Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass in shared car, O/N stay at Gangtok
26th Oct: Check-out and transfer to Lachung in shared car, O/N stay at Lachung
27th Oct: Day trip to Yumthang Valley, Zero Point and Hot Spring, transfer to Gangtok and O/N stay at Gangtok
28th Oct: Check-out and transfer to Bagdogra

Revert back in mail for further details.

      1. hey abhijit thanks,
can you tell me from where I can get the shared car for going from gangtok to lachung and while coming back from lachung to gangtok.
and please suggest me any good shared car service. Also if there is any way I can directly go from Lachung to Siliguri/NJP without going to Gangtok as I have return tickets to Delhi from Kolkata Airport.
Also please share the contacts details of the hotels in gangtok and lachung also. And if you can tell the approximate cost It would be of great help to me.
        Thanks,
        Akash

I need your help to plan a trip to north Sikkim. I’ll reach NJP on 16th March,2018 morning and have return train ticket on 20th March, 2018 evening from NJP. I would like to know if I can visit Gurudongmar during that time? If yes, Shall I book for Lachen,Lachung after reaching Gangtok? Do you have any contact number there? I am going to visit with my husband.

    Regards,
    Soumi
