How To Reach Dooars
New Jalpaiguri is the gateway to Dooars and it is well connected with rail and roads from Kolkata. Dooars is an overnight journey from Kolkata and a few hours’ drive from New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri in north Bengal. There are regular flights from Kolkata to Bagdogra airport in north Bengal.
Kolkata To Dooars By Train
There are regular trains from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri and other interior stations in Dooars region. New Mal junction station in Dooars is close to several places of interest like Gorumara forest, Murti, Jhalong, Samsing, Suntalekhola etc. and Hasimara station is close to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, Madarihat etc. Kanchen Kanya Express departs from Sealdah station in Kolkata is the only train that goes via New Mal Junction and Hasimara station through the woods of Dooars.
There are many trains that departs from Kolkata and reach New Jalpaiguri (NJP) station in 10 or 12 hours journey. From NJP one can reach different regions in Dooars by road.
Kolkata To Dooars By Road
There are Volvo buses, NBSTC buses and other luxury buses depart from Kolkata to reach New Jalpaiguri station. Bhutan Govt. buses also ply in this route to reach Bhutan from Kolkata.
Kolkata To Dooars By Air
Regular flights connect Kolkata and Bagdogra. Dooars is a few hours’ drive from Bagdogra. One can reach Bagdogra by flight from Kolkata and then take a vehicle to reach any destination in Dooars region.
Places of Interests in Dooars
When it comes to places of interest in Dooars, you must know your interests and be sure what you like. If you are a wildlife photographer or a fellow who loves wild animals and jungles then you should head towards the national forests and wildlife sanctuaries of Dooars. Dooars is the ultimate region for jungle lovers.
If you are not a jungle lover do not worry, the Dooars region is famous for greenery, innumerable streams of water & rivers and lush green tea gardens. The place is ultimate for them who want to spend some days with nature in a serene and tranquil region. Dooars is popular for its breathtaking natural beauty, tempting landscape, exotic locations and a rich treasure of flora and fauna.
National Parks & Wildlife Sanctuaries in Dooars
There are a number of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in Dooars region. Gorumara National Park and Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary are the two most popular amongst many others. Gorumara National Park and Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary are recognized across the Globe and very popular for their one horned Rhino population. Some of the most popular forests are:
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary
Jaldapara is very close to Hasimara railway station in Dooars. It is a few minutes’ drive from Haismara station to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary. There are many private hotels & resorts in Jaldapara range but the three government lodges receive the highest tourist traffic and are most sought after accommodations. All private hotels, Jaldapara Tourist Lodge belonging to WBTDC and Malangi Lodge belonging to WBFDC are located along the high way that passes through the area. The Hollong Tourist Lodge belonging to WTDC is located deep inside the forest and it takes an hour to reach the lodge from the highway deep inside the jungle. Hollong Tourist lodge is popular for wild animals spotting. Jaldapara is famous for one horned Rhino population, elephants, bison, leopards, deer like Chital, Sambar etc. and birds. Tourists say Jaldapara is also famous for its elephant safari and I do agree.
Chilapata Forest
Chilapata and Jaldapara are adjacent forest separated with area. Wild animals migrate from one to the other. Chilapata is famous for its jeep safari from Kodalbasti point. The jeep safari here is the most valuable safari by jeep in Dooars. The jeep safari lasts around 3.5 hours and there are high chances of spotting elephants, leopards and Rhino. The vast plains and grass land between Chilapata and Jaldapara is a good place for the Rhinos to rest in. There are a few private hotels and resorts in Chilapata.
Khoyerbari Forest
This forest is adjacent to Jaldapara sanctuary on the other side separated by area. Khyerbari is popular for elephant migration. Elephants migrate from Khoyerbari forest to Chilapata forest via Jaldapara sanctuary. Last time when I visited Khoyerbari, I was very lucky to see the herd of elephants with new born babies. Elephants do not move or migrate with very little ones until the new born babies are grown up a bit and capable of long walk. Khoyerbari also has a leopard and tiger rehabilitation center which has a good number of leopards and Royal Bengal tigers in wide open areas. There is no accommodation facility for tourists in Khoyerbari range but one can penetrate the jungle by road up to the rehabilitation center and then move further to Gorumara or Jaldapara on either side.
Chapramari Forest
Chapramari is very close to human habitats. Elephants often go out of jungle and we watch the news on TV that elephants have ransacked crops and fields. The only rail line through the woods of Dooars passes across Chapramari forest and many elephants fall victims of rail accidents. Chapramari is also a very dense forest and popular for its elephant population.
Gorumara National Park
Gorumara National Park is very famous for elephants. One can also find Rhinos there but of course the population of Rhinos is much less compared to Jaldapara Sanctuary. New Mal Junction is the closest railway station to Gorumara National Park. The entry point to Gorumara is in Latguri. Jeep safari is very popular in Gorumara. There are several watching towers and the Jeeps passes through the jungle up to the watch towers. There are several safaris in jeep but the one that leads you to Jatra Prasad watch tower is the most popular and famous safari because the Jeep moves deep inside the forest and this watch tower is good for wild animal spotting.
Beautiful Landscapes in Dooars
Murti
The name of the place is from the river Murti. It is an ideal place for them who want to relax and spend a couple of days in peace. There are many private resorts but the main attraction is Bonani Lodge belonging to WBFDC. The lodge is located on the bank of the river and the landscape is just breath taking. One can make sightseeing up to Bindu via Chapramari forest from Murti. A deep in the crystal clear knee level water of the river Murti will be memorable throughout the life.
Samsing and Suntalekhola
These two are picturesque spots in Dooars near Murti and Gorumara forest. The WBFDC has got beautiful accommodation facilities in these two places which are worth spending nights. The hanging bridge adds more thrill and beauty.
Jhalong
It is one of my favorite places in Dooars. Jhalong is a hamlet on the bank of the river and the accommodation facility provided by WBFDC is nothing but awesome. The Jhalong River Camp of WBFDC has got camps and tents to stay in. The raw beauty of nature is breathtaking and very tempting. I have been to Jahlong many times and I am still not tired. One must enjoy the camp fire if the visit is made in winter.
Jayanti
Jayanti is close to Jaldapara Sanctuary, it is a beautiful landscape in Dooars. Jayanti is an attraction to both locals and tourists. One or two nights stay is really worth though one can easily spend more nights there if he likes to be with nature.
Buxaduar
Buxa is adjacent to Jayanti and well connected with Jaldapara by road. Buxa is also a dense forest with beautiful landscapes around. Earlier there had to be safaris but presently you don’t have any jungle safari option but you can drive around with your vehicle.
Car Rental in Dooars – Hire A Vehicle
In Dooars, You can hire a dry car with driver on a full day basis and the car would be with you at night. They charge around Rs. 1,200 for a dry car on a full day basis and you are supposed to pay the fuel charges assuming that the car runs 10km on 1 liter of fuel on average. Night charge for the driver is Rs. 100-150.
One can also hire a vehicle with Rs 2,300-2,400 per day including everything. You are not supposed to pay any extra like parking fee, driver’s night charge etc. The rate includes everything.

Kanchankanya Exp. is the only direct train from Kolkata (Sealdah) that runs across Dooars up to Alipurduar. This is the best train to visit any part of Dooars. It departs from Sealdah at 8.30 pm and reaches New Mal Junction around 9.30-10 am, Hasimara around 10.30-11 am and Alipurduar Junction around 12.30-1 pm. Hi Milan,
Lataguri is the entry point to Gorumara National Park. There are so many hotels in Lataguri. The price of a good hotel will be around Rs 1,500 excluding food. The cost of food in Latguri is Rs 400 per head per day including B/F, meals and evening snacks.
I would suggest you to hire a vehicle on daily basis and pay for the km travelled. The cost of a Sumo/Max is Rs 2,300 per day.
The cost of jeep safari in Gorumara is Rs 1,500 approx. for a jeep. A jeep can accommodate 6 persons. The best tower to visit in Gorumara is Yatra Prasad Watch Tower.
Jeep safari is also done in Jaldapara forest. The best way to explore wild animals is elephant safari which is done from Hollong Lodge and Barodabari Lodge in Jaldapara.

Elephant safari is not available in Chapramari presently. I am not sure about the exact rate of jeep safari but it would be around Rs 1,500 approx. Its better you do the Jeep safari in Gorumara or Chilapata. I personally feel the jeep safari from Kodalbasti point near Jaldapara is the best safari operated in Dooars. This is the longest and takes you through dense forest of Jaldapara and Chilapata. There is more scope of spotting wild animals though it all depends on luck.
If you want to do the elephant safari, you may stay at Barodabari Malangi Lodge (WBFDC). They are operating elephant safari in Jaldapara which is good. The best is from Hollong Lodge but I doubt whether you would get a chance or not.

Dooars is a huge area and one needs at least 3 nights to explore some parts of it. I could have answered your query properly in case you had provided the name of a particular place in Dooars you want to cover in a day trip. If you are leaving Lava at 11 am, the best thing would be to cover Mirik or Kalimpong rather than going in to Dooars region. If you insist to visit Dooars region, you can cover Murti but that would be hectic and long journey. If you don’t spend a night in Murti, you won’t love the place.

I can not suggest unless you tell me the point you want to start from. he gateway to Dooars is NJP. You can cover Murti, Jhalong, Samsing, Suntalekhola, Rocky Island, Paren, Gorumara range, Jaldapara range via Khoerbari and then from there to the hills of Lava, Lolegaon and Rishyap.
We, a group of about 8 people, want to visit dooars from 22nd Oct’ to 27th oct’ for 5 nights. we will start from NJP. Hi, we’re 3-4 friends from Kolkata planning a short tour to Dooars on the 2nd week of September 2015.
We will be leaving Kolkata on Friday night and wish to return back on Monday night.
The places which we are interested to visit are:-
Buxa Tiger reserve
Gorumara National Park
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary
Samsing and Suntalekhola
Any 2 or 3 of the above which may be possible in 2 days time.
The first choice of travel is by train to NJP or New Mal Jn, 2nd by bus and 3rd by flight. I hope rented cars are readily available at the station? cause we are not booking anything in advance.
Can you suggest a proper route for a quick tour. Also the approximate cost per head would be helpful. Thanks!
Safaris are closed till 15th September and you can not get in to jungles. Forests across India remain closed for 3 months during rainy seasons. If you can pull your dates after 15th September that will be great for you. Poeple visiting to the jungles just after the jungles open after 3 months are very lucky. Jungles remain undisturbed for 3 months and so there are very high chances of sighting huge wild animals and the wilderness of the forests. So try to shift your dates.
Is it confirmed that jungles open only after the 15th of September?

The first question is why do you want to return to Jalpaiguri from Darjeeling? You can directly visit any place like Murti or Samsing or Suntalekhola from Darjeeling. Jhalong is a very good point of night stay too. I personally prefer the WBFDC river camp. If you want to visit the places from Jalpaiguri, you can surely do that. Hi, I am planning a short trip to dooars. But do not have any idea about the region. I will start from Kolkata on 13th or 12th night, and want to be back by max 17th. Not really intrested in sight seeing. One jungle safari is more than enough. What I love is the moutains, and tranquility and light trekking. Its more of a trip to recharge myself and get away from Kolkata for few days. Can you kindly provide me some information? My budget is low range. And I do not want to go on site hopping spree. I just want to unpack at a hotel and use it as a base for 2 or 3 days excursions around the region.
I am not sure if its the right thing I am seeking from Dooars but judging by your article, it seems that it can provide me with what I am seeking out of this trip. Any help will be appreciated.

I am going for a trip to dooars in this january end for 2 days with 9 other people and I have already booked paren WBFDC nature resort cottage for 1 night. Yo can stay 2 nights at Murti and 1 night at Holong. Getting confirmation in Holong is really a matter of luck. If you get the booking, it is the best option to stay in Dooars for nature/wildlife lovers. You must have a reserved car to go around. Best option is to reserve a car for the entire trip. 8.Reached Sealdah Station.
These are the places we like to cover:-, please instruct me what will be the mode of journey there, we are only 3 person( Myself, MyWife and My 19 Yrs old Son) . Let me tell you some facts. Lataguri is a commercial place and a town too chaotic with local people. Though it is entry point to Gorumara forest, it is not a suitable place to stay for nature lovers. It is better you stay at Murti by the river side and visit all nearby places. You can also visit Gorumara forest from Murti for the Jeep Safari.
I can’t suggest a trip itinerary if you don’t share the number of nights you have. I would also like to know if you have planned to reach NJP by train and then to Dooars from NJP by road. Nearest railway station to Murti is New Mal Junction.
It is always better to get train tickets up to New Mal Junction if a tourist intend to visit Jhalong, Murti, Samsing, Suntalekhola, Bindu, Chapramari and Gorumara. Murti is only a few kilometers from New Mal Junction whereas 3-3.5 hours drive from NJP.
Nearest railway station to Jaladapara is Hasimara station. If Jaldapara is the last leg of your trip, it is better if you get your return tickets from Hasimara station which is only a few kilometers from Jaldapara.
Kanchankanya express is the only train that ply in this route from Kolkata. If your tickets are done up to NJP then you will have to take a road trip to Dooars via Coronation Bridge as you have stated. The day you return, if your train tickets are not done from Hasimara then you will have to take another road trip to NJP station.

It is better you reserve a car for the entire trip. I do the same thing. Reserving a car is more economical compared to hiring cans from point to point. The car will be there with you whole day and you can roam around.

Dooars is segmented in 3 parts.
1. Belt one covers Murti, Jhalong, Chaparamari forest, Bindu, Samsing, Suntalekhola, Rockcy Island, Gorumara forest. You can spend nights at Murti or Jhalong or Suntalekhola and cover other places on sightseeing. Jeep safari in jungle is done in Chapramari and Gorumara forest. You can cover all places in 2 nights – 3 days. Nearest railway station is New Mal Junction.
2. Second belt comprises of Jaladapara and Chilapata forest. You can enjoy jeep safari and elephant safari. Nights stay should be done in any Govt. lodge. If you stay at any private lodge you will get to avail elephant safari. priority for elephant safari is given to them who stays at Hollong tourist lodge (WBTDC property) or Barodabari Malangi Lodge (WBFDC property) or Jaladapara Tourist Lodge (WBTDC property). Best is if you can spend minimum 2 nights – 3 days in Jaldapara. You can also cover Phuntsholing in Bhutan on a day trip from Jaldapara. Nearest railway station is Hasimara.
3. The third or last belt covers Buxaduar, Rajhabhatkhaoa and Jayanti. One can stay at Buxa or Jayanti and cover all places of interest. Minimum 2 nights – 3 days are required. Jeep safari is available in Jayanti forest. One can also cover the Coochbihar Rajbari on a day trip from there. For that you will need 1 extra night stay making it 3 nights – 4 days. Nearest railway station is Alipurduar Junction.
The only train that connect all these stations with Kolkata directly is the Kanchankanya Express. Make sure you get confirmed tickets in this train. Will be helpful. Depending on your budget and number of days available, you can plan your trip. You can start with first belt then going through the second belt end up at the third belt covering all regions of Dooars. If you don’t have that much time or if there is budget constraint, you can cover the first and the second belt in 3 nights – 4 days or 4 nights – 5 days trip.
You will not get any shared vehicle in Dooars. For all sightseeing and travel from one place to other you will have to reserve a car. You can get a car from point to point but I would suggest you to reserve a car which is helpful and more flexible.

Yes, it is possible. You can make this trip if you have time in hand. I feel you should cover the Dooars properly and then visit Lava-Lolegaon if you have time. Suggested Dooars trip: 2 nights in Murti, 2 nights at Jaldapara, 3 nights at Buxa-Jayanti making it 7 nights-8 days trip to Dooars.

No need to worry. Speak to the manager at the lodge and he would be able to manage elephant safari tickets for you. You are supposed to ask for tickets previous day of the safari. First priority is given to tourist staying at Holong and second priority is given to tourist staying Jaldapara Tourist Lodge. So as soon as you reach the lodge, speak to the manager or concerned person.

Unfortunately it is not a good idea to book rooms for 4 nights at Lataguri. It is a market area and town type area serves as the entry point to Gorumara National Park. Staying there is not a good option. One can only go for jeep safari inside Gorumara Park from there. One can also opt to go for jeep safari in Gorumara staying at other beautiful, scenic and serene places like Murti, Samsing, etc.
There is no point of visiting Jaldapara if you can’t stay overnight. Jaldapara Sanctuary is famous for Safaris (elephant and jeep safari). It is very hard to get elephant safari tickets if you don’t stay at Govt. lodges. Jaldapara is a separate stay all together.
You can cover Murti, Jhalong, Bindu, Samsing, Suntalekhola, Paren, Rocky Island, etc. from Lataguri. The car will have to run much because these places are bit away from Lataguri.
It is better if you hire or reserve a car for the entire trip. You can then move on your wish and when required. So make sure you reserve a car. Let me know if you need driver’s number. I can share my driver’s number if needed. You can mail me at “uvreachedavi@gmail.com” for info.

I feel you should skip anyone of the places you mentioned. It is better if you skip Buxa and focus on Gorumara and Jaldapara.
The trip plan can be:
Day 1: Reach Hasimara station, transfer to Jaldapara, O/N stay at Jaldapara
Day 2: Enjoy early morning elephant safari, check-out and transfer to Murti, O/N stay at Murti
Day 3: Visit Bindu, Jhalong and Chapramari range, enjoy afternoon jeep safari in Gorumara range, O/N stay at Murti
Day 4: Go for a morning trip to Samsing, Suntalekhola, Rocky Island, transfer to New Mal Junction, board your train
Kanchankanya Exp. is the train that ply directly takes you to Hasimara and you can board the same train from New Mal Junction.
I suggest you to have a reserved car for the entire trip.

Jeep safari cost depends on ranges and towers covered. It varies from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 for a jeep. 6 people is accommodated in a jeep. You can get 4 individual tickets or you can rent a full Gypsy car. Elephant safari can be done only if you stay at Govt. lodges (WBFDC or WBTDC properties). Elephant safari costs Rs 600-700 per head and 4 people are taken on the elephant’s back.
Best option is you hire or reserve a car for the entire trip. I do the same thing whenever I visit Dooars. The car will pick you up from station and drop you there after the trip. They charge on per day basis. If you want I can connect you to my driver. I travel with the same driver since last many years.

5 nights-6 days are not enough to cover Dooars and you are including Lava within this plan. I don’t think it is a good plan. You can cover entire Dooars region and skip Lava this time. You can stay 2 nights at Murti, 1 night at Jaldapara and 2 nights at Buxa.
If you insist I can surely make a plan for you including Dooars and Lava. Let me know.

There are 3 belts or tourist circuits in Dooars. 1st circuit needs 2 nights, 2nd circuit can be covered in 1 night stay and 3rd circuit can be covered in 3 nights stay. I have suggested lodging rates of Govt. lodges only. It can happen that you don’t get rooms with this tariff available on your days. In that case, you will have to look for other rooms which may cost you around Rs 2,300 per day or more. You can check WBFDC or WBTDC websites for details. In case you need rooms in private lodges, I can connect you to owners but room tariffs will be around Rs 2,000-2,500 per day across Dooars. If the budget is an issue, you can’t help it. You will have to reduce the number of days. I have already shared the approx. expenses, you can calculate and plan accordingly.

You can book train ticket upto New Mal Junction. Kanchankanya Exp. is the only train from Kolkata (Sealdah station) to any part of Dooars. See if train tickets are available. In case train tickets are not available upto New Mal Junction in Kanchankanya Exp. you can book tickets upto NJP station in any train and from NJP you can have a road drive upto any place near Gorumara.

There are no waterfall across Dooars. Dooars is distributed in 3 tourist circuits. As you have 3 nights in hand, you can visit and cover the 1st circuit. You can stay at Murti for 1 night to enjoy a stay amidst nature with the Murti river by your side and 2 nights at Tilabari near Gorumara range and cover all nearby areas. You would require a reserved car for the entire trip or you can book cars on point to point basis. You can stay at 1 place and enjoy safaris in jungles and go for local sightseeing. If you stay at Tilabari near Gorumara, you can go for jeep safari in Gorumara and if budget permits, you can reserve a car to go for sightseeing. Dooars have 3 tourist circuits. As you are 1st timer, you can visit the 1st circuit that includes Gorumara.

Yes, Paren is beautiful and worth 2 nights stay. I don;t suggest a car on point to point basis but it is absolutely your call. The decision is yours, I can only suggest. If you need, I can connect you to my driver who drives me each time I visit there. If you are staying at Kalipur eco camp, it includes everything in the package including the elephant safari. If you are willing to do a jeep safari to Jatar Prasad watch tower, you can avail the jeep safari in Gorumara. You can buy tickets from Gorumara gate at Lataguri.

You can’t do safari because forest safari remains closed from July to Sept.
Though you can visit Dooars and take your reserved car through the woods. Dooars has got a different charm during monsoon. You can surely visit but only thing you miss is jungle safari. Let me know what you decide. I would suggest further accordingly.

I always have to attaction of jungle. That’s why I have planned a tour for Dooars in September 2017.Actually on 17th we shall have our train from Sealdah. On 18th we will reach on Malbazar juntion at 9:30 AM. I have decided that we will take our breakfast and lunch at our hotel. Then after that we will leave for the Wildlife.On 19th, we will go Bhutan(Only 2-3 places where the visa processes are not needed and we can enjoy the beauty of mountain e.g. Phunsholling).On 20th we will cover Murti and other local places and will leave hotel to get back to home.

Closest place in Dooars to Gangtok located almost 5 hours away. If you are looking for Gangtok+Dooars, you should stay at Tilabari in Dooars. It is close to Gangtok compared to other places and you can cover most places in Dooars from here. If you want to visit Gangtok only in Sikkim, you can stay for 3 nights there and stay 3 nights in Tilabari in Dooars.

I’m planning to visit Dooars for 3 to 5 nights in December. I will either arrive at NJP by train or Bagdogra airport and start the trip to Dooars by hiring a vehicle for the entire duration of the trip.
I know nothing about Dooars so can you please suggest in which area I need to stay for how many nights (I prefer the WBDTC lodges as I heard their location is good).
I will not be coming to Dooars again so I dont mind extending my trip beyond 5 nights if required to make the most of this trip.
Also how can I book the dry vehicle beforehand.
Any suggestion is welcome.

If you have alreday made your mind that you would not visit the place again, so its better you spend 6 nights there. You can cover most part of it then. You can hire the car for the entire trip including fuel, driver, etc. No need to go for dry car. It would be expensive and it is too complicated to calculate. Better if you pay the driver on per day basis. You can check WBFDC lodges and see if these are available on your travel dates. If not, you will have to lodge at private resorts. There are so many private resorts which even better compared to govt. resorts. You must book your lodging before hand. Give me a call on my mobile and let us discuss in detail.

I’m planning to visit Dooars for 4 nights in March-2018. I will arrive at Alipur Duar junction on March-18-2018 at 12:30 PM by Kanchankanya Exp and will return on March-22-2018 at 05:30 PM by Padatik Exp. From Alipurduar Junction to Alipurduar Junction.

You can spend 5-6 nights for a good experience. If you can afford more days, that would be better. You can call me over the phone any day after 9.30 pm for details if you want. You can enjoy jeep safaris there in Dooars. I do not endorse elephant safaris anymore because this is painful to these elegant animals. They come across painful training and torture. It would be good if you can skip elephant riding on your trip.

1. Is there really any available staying option @ Buxa (Rajabhatkhawa), as I read all staying options are now closed due to NGT ruling. If any, Please suggest, otherwise, I prefer to stay another day @ Maynabari/Turturi khanda and Visit Jayanti Etc. from there.
2. Is Buxa Jeep Safari still running?
3. Most Important, contact No.of a Good Driver, well experienced with all terrains and well conditioned vehicle with ready to venture, what may arise.
Unfortunately, I lost contact with my old friend “Bablu” with his Tata Sumo Gold LX, from Alipurduar ( # WB70C4192).
27 years back when studying in Coochbehar, vividly roamed in North Bengal, ofcourse, it is totally different dooars now ( last visited in July 2015), I hoped, I could give my family some touch it still left.
I share your same thought “Till date I have visited so many places of interests and offbeat destinations in India and looking forward to visit more. There are so many places on the list and I am scared that a life is not enough to cover one-fourth of India’s places of interest” – Thanks.

Cost of a sedan would be Rs 2,500-2,600 per day (Swift Dzire and others), small car would cost you Rs 2,300-2,500 per day and a large car would cost you Rs 2,500-2,700 per day and a luxury SUV car like Innova will cost you Rs 4,500 per day.
I know Bachhu da, a native from north bengal who is the best person I pick for when I visit Dooars. Let me know if you need his contact number.

Thanks for reaching out to TravelDias and writing to me. I am happy to share my feedback here. Kindly refer to my remarks below:
1. I don’t suggest staying at Lataguri. It’s a chaos out there. You can stay a few kilometers away in a serene place which is not chaotic. I personally don’t prefer to stay at Lataguri these day though I stayed quite a few times there in my initial visit to Dooars. Murti is much better option and even places like Tilabari is also good to stay over nights. There are many hotels or resorts in and aorund Murti, Tilabari, etc.
Jatra Prasad watch tower is the best option. Medla is not bad either but given two options, I would go with Jatra Prasad.
2. The day you reach Murti or Tilabari or Lataguri, you can cover Bindu, Jhalong and Chapramari forest range in afternoon after having your lunch. Visiting Bindu in afternoon or late afternoon is worth. Do not forget to taste the delicious momos in local stalls there.
3. You can do morning jeep safari in Gorumara and then cover Samsing, Suntalekhola, Rocky island, etc. in the afternoon or vice-versa. You can go for sightseeing in morning and do jeep safari in afternoon.
4. If you are not interested in elephant safari, I will not suggest you to visit Jaldapara. Jaldapara is good for elephant safari. To experience elephant safari, you must have your booking in forest guest house or govt. property. Tourists staying in govt. lodges in Jaldapara gets priority of doing elephant safari over tourists staying in private resorts or hotels in Jaldapara or any part of Dooars. If you ave aged persons in your team, its better to skip elephant safari unless you are fit to do so and are passionate about safaris.
5. Yes, you can visit Sikiajhora on your visit to Buxa and Rajabhatkhawa range. I am sure you will love the boat ride in the shallow waters.
