Domestic Air Travel In India – Flight Fare Offers
Looking for domestic air travel in India? Great news for all travelers. Jet Airways, India’s second largest carrier company announced India’s biggest ticket sale on Tuesday after SpiceJet did the same type of offer in January. The company has announced a sale of 20 lakh seats for travel anytime till 31st of December in 2013 just at Rs 2,250 per ticket. One can book the tickets before 24th of February.
SpiceJet on 11th January announced 10 lakh seats on offer at Rs 2,013 for domestic air travel in India, tickets could be booked over 3 days and DGCA office had a major concern on this, they perceived this kind of practice would be harmful for airlines sector financially. DGCA also announced and requested others players not to join in but Jet Airways now comes up with the largest offer in the same year. Jet Airways now takes the plunge offering a double number of seats and seems to be on the top of the list.
The traveling fraternity predicted this year to be full of exciting offers which can stimulate the market because 2012 was a down time in airline sector and so did I. Airfares were too high in the past year, many passengers opt to travel by any other mode of transport and the growth of the airline sector was negative. Kingfisher airlines had a to face a drastic negative scene. The working community in the sector was in panic and the players in the sector were looking for a change and a upward graph. Probably these offers and practices are results of such concerns and I wish we experience a positive trend in domestic air travel in India.
“January to March will be very interesting months as airfares are expected to soften,” Sunny Sodi, COO -Corporate Travel and Senior VP (Air Product) of www.yatra.com
“Fares will dip also because some capacity will be added to IndiGo, Air India and Jet that will need to be filled up. 2013 will see exciting offers, new deals and several short-term discounts in our assessment,” – added Sodi.
DGCA might have been unhappy, but others think more such offers are needed. It is always good for frequent and budget travelers like me who look forward to discounts and offers and we have nothing to think about any impact on the airline sector or the economy. A travel by air decreases the journey time to a great extent and if we can avail these offers which cost us less, we can use the time or day in exploring the destination. Last time when I visited Goa, I had the journey by Amravati Express, the direct train from Kolkata to Goa and it took around 40 hours to reach my destination. I wish I could avail such a air fare offer before my visit, it would have provided me more time to spend in Goa and not wasting in the journey.
Hope the above mentioned offer helps you in planning your domestic air travel in India. You can visit the post on Economic times for more details.
