In many occasions we opt to set off for Digha at night. Especially on weekends like Friday nights are great time to go for Digha and spend some cool time by the beaches. Most of us set of for Digha at night from Kolkata so that we can spend the entire day, i.e. Saturday there in Digha.
We all know that there is no train service from Kolkata to Digha at night and there is no CSTC and Volvo bus service at night from Kolkata to Digha. You can take your own vehicle if you want to leave at night or the only option you have is an AC bus service from Kolkata to Digha. There are many AC coaches and buses from Kolkata to Digha throughout the day which leaves from Esplanade bus depot but at night you have only one option.

Friends Travels is the only AC bus operator in Esplanade which has AC bus service at night from Kolkata to Digha. They have the service everyday and the bus leaves in between 10.45 pm to 11.00 pm from Esplanade. Friends Travels is approved by S.T.A. Govt. of West Bengal. They don’t have any online booking service but you can book your ticket offline by visiting their booking office at Rani Rashmoni Road, Esplanade.

AC Bus Fare from Kolkata To Digha
The bus fare was Rs 270 till last month but now the fare is Rs 300 per head. The bus ticket is not refundable. In case the AC doesn’t work from the beginning, Rs 50 will be refunded. Don’t worry, I have traveled so many times but it never happened that AC didn’t work. 🙂
The bus halts at Kolaghat around 1.00 am and halts for 30 to 40 minutes. It takes around 4 and half hour to reach Digha from Kolkata including the halt time at Kolaghat. The bus reaches Digha at the wee hours around 3.30 am. The bus stops at various tourist points like Chaulkhola More (to go Mandarmani), Balisahi (to go Tajpur) etc. if there anyone wants to drop there. You have to wait till check-in time of hotels. Sometimes if you can negotiate, you can manage to get in your hotel early in the morning otherwise you have to wait.
I love this wait. I have taken this journey many times. Each time I waited by the beach and experienced the lovely sun rise early in the morning. You would not realize when the time would pass by if you have a great company.

Any ac bus from Kolkata to digha at morning? How much fare

Considering Espanade bus depot as point of departure, there are a few AC buses leave in morning around 7-7.30 am run by private operators but I am not sure if they are regular. On Saturday, you can get one for sure. There is an AC bus service operated by CSTC from Espanade which is regular, I am not sure about the timing as I hardly travel to Digha in morning. Be sure that there is no real Volvo service between Kolkata and Digha.

Redbus.in has got no seats available so you can check Friends Travels who run AC/Non-AC buses between Kolkata and Digha. The ticket counter is located at Esplanade just opposite CSTC terminus. In case you don’t get any confirmation as tomorrow is a peak time, I would suggest you to viist Esplanade within 7 am and you can get many buses from CSTC and WBSTC. There will be many private buses too.

There are no actual Volvo service from Friend’s Travels but you can surely get an AC Bus service from them at night. I usually avail their service. 2 AC buses leave at night. The last one leaves around 11pm. If there is demand, they ad one more bus in to service. You can check their booking outlet at Esplanade bus depot. Actual Volvo service is available in morning. The Volvo buses leave around 7am in the morning. This Friday, a Volvo from Ex-Service Man is available. The fare is Rs 300.
If you avail the night bus which departs around 11pm from Esplanade, it reaches Balisai around 3am. The bus halts at Kolaghat for nearly an hour.

I suggest you to book the tickets in advance because there is always a rush for the night tickets on Friday and AC buses are limited. If you need the contact details and other information do mail me at “uvreachedavi@gmail.com”. Reaching early is not an issue. Make sure you do not talk to strangers and those touts who force you to take hotels through them. The bus will drop you at old Digha near the Sea Hawk hotel. Take the by lane and reach up to the shore where you can spend the early morning in ease. 2 or 3 tea stalls will be open.

It is safe but as you are traveling with a girl, I would suggest you to set off early in the morning rather than night. When the night buses reach Digha around 3.30 am there are hardly any tourists on road except a few who lands with you or from other night buses. Hotels will only allow you to get in around 11am – the check-in time in most of the hotels. If you have booked your hotel and your hotel allows you to get in such early in the morning then you can visit in the night bus. Do not talk to any touts when they come to you to get you a hotel. Just let them know that you have booking. If you are traveling in the night bus, try to take a hotel near old Digha bus stand. All night buses drop tourists in old Digha near the Sea Hawk hotel or the old Digha main crossing.
Is there attached washroom facility in the bus?
Unfortunately there is no such bus between Kolkata and Digha. The bus halts for half an hour on the way at Kolaghat.

You can get Volvo buses to Digha from Esplanade between 7-8 am. The fare is Rs 300-400. There are CSTC buses between Kolkata and Digha with fare Rs 110-150. There are private buses too. In morning there are many options.
Avi I remember KRL use to have a Volvo Bus Service to Vizag but they do not have it anymore. Any idea if there is a plan to resume the service. It was a good alternative to beat the train rush during peak hours

I want to travel Tajpur in the mid of December ’15 and want to book 8 seats from Esplande. I heard that, we have to drop at Chowlkhola.ok. But return time can the bus pick up us at Chowlkhola or from Digha?
If you have approved/confirmed tickets, the bus can surely pick you up from Chaulkhola more but you have to communicate this to the bus operator. There is no need to go up to Digha to board the return bus but make sure you talk to the bus operator and let them know your intention. You can also return by train, Duronto Express which is much more comfortable and gives you more time to spend by beach and sea. You can book a vehicle up to New Digha and board the train. Duronto leaves around 3.30 pm. A vehicle takes around Rs 600-650 for a drop to New Digfha rail station from Tajpur.

Usually there are no AC buses on Redbus and from other popular operators during that period of time. Most AC buses run in morning till late noon and the at night. As there are many bus operators, you can visit Esplanade and then check on.

There are buses from Esplanade to Digha throughout the day but frequency is low during that time of the day.

On Weekends when there is rush, you can get private AC buses from Esplanade to Digha via Chaulkhola. On other days when there is not that much traffic to the sea beaches, you can get private buses till 11.30-12 at night.

AC buses will be available but you will not get any Volvo. There are no private Volvo services to Digha. As this is not peak season now, there will be less number of AC buses at night. Friend’s Travels has got a AC bus that departs at 10.45 pm.
